Australia to spend 50 million Australian dollars to restore the koala population.
“Koalas are one of the most recognizable symbols of Australia. We are committed to protecting them for future generations,” said Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
The money will be used to restore the population of koalas, their habitat, as well as to support public awareness and care for these animals.
Since 2018, about 30 percent of the continent’s koalas have died due to wildfires, drought and land clearing, according to the Australian Koala Foundation (AKF).
